Correct but I did mines by going down to the Bankruptcy building in my area. They were really nice, gave me the forms, the waiver to “can’t pay” for free. They told me when to bring it all back. I had 14 days. It was all done, they filed, had my 341 meeting and it was all discharged

I literally followed these exact steps and now just waiting on my 341 meeting and discharge. I’m doing my filing fee in four payments though. Still worth it vs paying $1000+ for a lawyer

I filed mine through a very expensive attorney in Nashville pro bono. I didn’t pay a dime and he was amazing. Call legal aid in your area and they will give you contacts of lawyers who may do it pro bono.

While I understand it sounds like an amazing idea to do it for free & understand for some it’s your only choice. However, please keep this is in mind : you are completing the biggest financial transaction of your life with the FEDERAL Government involved. One tiny mistake can be so costly. The forms aren’t always simple and self explanatory. For these reason I will also recommend getting an atty. Also, go to the bankruptcy court website it’ll show you the poverty levels for that district and whether you will qualify for a waiver- also the trustee has a say in whether they’ll agree with granting the waiver. Bank statement, pay stubs and taxes do not come to the courthouse- they are to be submitted to the trustee. Chapter 7 is $338- must pay in money order or cash. Chapter 13 is $313. If you qualify for installments $169 is due with in 7 days and the other two payments are broken up.
