We rescued Gigi in January 2023 after years of neglect, and since then she has become the sweetest, most irreplaceable part of our family. This fundraiser was originally created to cover surgery on Gigi’s ears. She had been living with chronic, untreated infections for so long that her only chance at relief was a major procedure called a Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA). While preparing for that surgery, her pre-op bloodwork revealed a dangerously high white blood cell count. Further testing uncovered something even more serious, a mass in her abdomen. Right now there is free-floating blood in her stomach and signs of infection that could point to sepsis. The vets are working quickly to determine whether the mass is on her spleen or liver, which will decide if surgery is even possible. This is a true emergency, and without intervention Gigi may only have weeks left. We are devastated but determined to fight for her. Between the initial ear surgery, ongoing emergency care, and the possibility of a major abdominal surgery, her medical costs are climbing far beyond what we ever expected and are now upwards of $20,000.
