1% to 2% chance of getting dementia is an 100% increase, but 2% is notthat staggering a percentage. I would rather not be depressed most of my life and have a 2% risk of dementia than be depressed for most of it but not get dementia

I just got off my SSRI and I feel so much stronger and better equipped to handle my anxiety now that I’m in a better place but it’s nice knowing that if it all goes to downhill again I could just go on them again.

I feel like it’s so much higher than 25percent! Happy to be free from any meds for almost 7 yrs now. However, almost everyone I know takes something between anxiety meds and adhd meds alone

I was on 80mgs of Celexa for almost 20 years, it KILLED my memory 😞 So grateful for the CRNP who helped me wean off of it.

This is incredibly scary. I take both antidepressants and antipsychotics when doing a med change I became so anxious and felt like like I was crawling out of my own skin I had to stay medicated on Ativan for weeks until my medications finally kicked in. For some it feels like there is no hope for being non medicated

I knew there was a reason I’ve get always been so wary and med avoidant. The have no idea what these meds do long term until they’ve been out long enough to find out. This is scary and sad for so many people.

There’s genetic variables to this and depression itself is a risk factor for dementia.
