we brought my dad home from the hospital after the cancer ate away at his left femur causing it to break. he laughed when I tripped over the rocking chair and almost landed on my niece. 8 hrs later he was taking his last breath in our livingroom surrounded by family. I miss him so much 💔

A few days before my MIL lost her battle, I came into the room. She couldn’t see who it was so I said “it’s your favorite daughter in law!” She goes “Oh yes you are!” I said “but I’m your only daughter in law…” the last thing I ever heard her say to me was “you’d still be my favorite” 😭 The picture of her is shortly after she denied doing chemo again so we took her to dinner. She did a happy dance when she realized they had a strawberry daiquiri on the men. 🥰

I lost my mom to cancer as well, back in 2004. My husband loved my mom like a mom and she loved him like a son. He was the only one she trusted to lift/carry or move her towards the end. He would pick her up like you’d pick up a baby and gently get her to where she needed or wanted to be. One of the last talks I had with my mom, I was crying and told her I still needed her and she told me, she knew I’d be ok because I had my husband. He chose to be and a pallbearer for her, even after being told it wasn’t expected or asked of him. He said it was the last time he could show his love and respect for her. Looks like we’re both extremely lucky! I’m so sorry about your mom.
