I can't stop grieving the man I thought I was dating ! How do I stop that ? He was an evil Narcissist and I just want him gone from my head but the person who he first presented for 3 months was my idea of perfect in every way and the next 9 months was utter hell.

There are a whole lot of them living up there. It’s getting crowded! The last one really messed me up.

I was SAed early in our relationship by a stranger and we have been broken up for, sheesh, at least 20 years but he haunts my dreams weekly and I’m always looking for either closure or a reconnection in them. I wonder if my brain is looking for myself with him before that traumatic event? We were together for years after it happened, but I’ve never been the same, obviously.

it helps to think of them not as people but as thoughts, thoughts aren't reality. once you strip away the projection of them and ground yourself in the present it gives the "fantasy" less power. i mean that worked for me 😂

What if it’s someone you hate? Someone who did you real wrong ten years ago and even after therapy you can’t let it go? Not a lover, a coworker. She tried to ruin my entire life. I’ll never be 100% over it.

For me it was limerence that lasted for over 10 years. I never actually loved them the way I thought I did. They were just a fantasy and a way for me to cope.
I find like people who I see myself in because I want validation and by validating them I was validating myself. Which is unhelathy when I should have been loving and validating myself.
