If you have a kitty with elevated ALT 😬😬😬 I have one right now (patient) that I am fairly certain is hyperthyroid but total T4 is normal. This kitty is definitely in renal failure so that normal TT4 isn’t changing my mind…the owner needs time to decide if a free t4 by ED is worth it…gotta love cats

Is Denamarin always the safest way to go first? Our vet office always recommends it for any sudden ALT change. How about OTC thistle for dogs?

My dog was PU/PD since adoption, had elevated ALP ALT, did three ultrasounds, lddst, hddst, acth stim: normal. CALLED CORNELL ENDOCRINOLOGY and they were like weird idk. 😀 ok

Thank you for this. I have an old vet clinic but new vet right out of school. Asked her what I should do? I said I want to do whatever you would do for your dog. Still got a deer in the headlights look. I’m going to have a ultrasound and go from there.

@Megan: Get the US pet owners. My dog ended up having a large liver tumor. No signs or symptoms till he had elevated liver enzymes.
