That's why they say the amount you pay for rent is the max you will pay, the mortgage on a house is the minimum you will pay.

Just for maintenance about 3% of the home value should be budgeted each year. Most year you might save but then you’ll get hit with a $20k roof replacement

Always get inspected, never use the inspector the realtor or builder suggest. Bonus points for watching someone line CyFy so you have an idea of what to look for

You failed to mention the positives like making 100 K in about four or five years and having interest rights in your taxes and being able to do whatever the heck you wanna do to that house without anybody’s permission

With the water coming into your basement it is most likely do to lack of water diversion outside around the foundation. Make sure gutters are working properly and not clogged as well as the grading around the foundation which is the way the dirt is piled up next to the foundation it should be a negative slide away from the foundation. If there is any areas water can pull up next to the foundation you just need to add dirt until water flows away from the foundation. Concrete is not water proof so water diversion is very important to keep your basement dry and maintained over the years. Hope this made sense.

Honestly though I feel super grateful to own a home because I think this could be the last generation to potentially actually own where they live!

Homeownership can be very expensive. Seems like the very minimum that you need you need about $10,000 and it goes up from there easily. Roof, HVAC, and windows just to list a few.

People say that stuff all the time, it’s just hard to find it. Social media diet can really help to fill these gaps.

Boyfriend and I bought a house two weeks ago. Week two in the span of 2 minutes at 11pm Friday night the toilet backed up (found out we had a broken pipe yay!) & a light switch decided to blow up on me. I was banned from touching anything 😅

Hahahaha do I hear some appreciation and understanding for us landlords???? 🤣🤣, but seriously though good for you on buying 🥰 I've had some of those houses and it's like they just keep thinking of ways to mess with me. The best way is to confront it head-on and look for problems to fix for about a month or two and then once you've worked on it it'll back off.
