Lowkey the IKEA Ektorp has been the longest standing piece of furniture that is still so comfortable that sometimes I prefer to sleep on it over my bed. Going on 8+ years strong

the problem I find with reviews is they will rave *item*, then drop the bombshell that they're still using *item* from 10 years ago. that's great, but the quality of *item* I'd buy TODAY is not the same quality of 10+years ago

we did ikea kivik with a custom cover because of reddit reviews. so so happy with it and excited to be able to use it for years to come if it lives up to the reddit reviews

Room and board. They’re like the Hondas of couches, you can use them for 8 years and still sell them for a considerable amount bc they’re made well. I know they’re not the trendiest or cheapest but they are built well.

Lovesac. I’ll die on this hill. Owned mine for over 10 years. Looks like I got it yesterday. I sit on one piece most of the time and still can’t tell a difference between the one I use and the others. Machine washable covers, soft, extendable, list goes on and on. You won’t regret it.

as someone who works on the furniture business, read the additional info. look for kiln dried wood(resistand to splintering and warping), sinuous springs(best support for best price), and foam density. the lower the foam density the softer it'll be but the less long it'll hold up 👍

Research on couches is awful. Love LoveSac, hate it. Same with Ikea. Go on Reddit and look at BIFL and you’re a fool if you buy anything that isn’t Amish. It’s stressing me out. 😵💫

COSTCO! I did the same research but went with the Lowell couch. They deliver it an set it up for you, it's modular, it's large, we usually use it as a pit style with our kids and it's amazing. 6 months in its just like the day we bought it. Easy zippers for washing covers. And its from costco so easy return if you don't like it. Ill never spend another minute lookin for a couch anywhere else.

I looked extensively for a long time. I recommend Crate and Barrel. Many places won’t disclose their “rub count,” which is fabric durability. And the ones that do, it’s low. You want well over 50k for rub count. C&B offers 100k. Also, you need firm cushions. Otherwise, the couch will look like a rumpled bed. You want a 4 out of 5 for firmness. Lower and your couch will look like a messy bed.

I got the Crate and Barrel Monterey sofa, it’s spendy but worth it! It’s soooo comfy, soft, easy to clean and cushions hold their shape!

The Macy’s radley, after my in-laws bought it, it spread like wildfire in the family. There are at least 7 of them in the family. We have the Macy’s Jollene because we needed a smaller size. It is still comfy, but the fabric isn’t cat friendly (my cats destroy all fabrics including cat friendly fabrics 🤷♀️)
