As a bit of reassurance, I went back to work 2 weeks ago and it has actually been a lovely bit of a mental break. I was very upset at the idea of returning to work and missing out etc, but it’s actually created a balance that I didn’t know I needed. Do I miss slow mornings with my baby everyday? Yes. But this is real family life and how our lives are going to be moving forward. Soak up every bit of maternity leave, but it’s not so scary out here! 🥰

Trying to stay off until Christmas 2025 but I literally have no savings and stop getting any pay September onwards. Scary doesn’t cover it, especially when you have a family, mortgage, bills. Absolutely ridiculous situation in the UK with maternity, never mind paternity!

I thought my maternity ended May, so I went back to work.., but I kept getting the maternity cheques, only to realize the website doesn’t update their dates frequently & so I could have been off work til November 😭😭
