Many studies show that this doesn’t help children also in fact, discourages them to learn I tried on my son and all of his teachers and IEP professionals told me don’t use it

Does this actually help and is there evidence? A perfectly grooved guide seems like it’d allow someone’s brain to be sloppy about sending signals that build the fine motor skills and the result would still be the same because you physically can’t miss the groove so there’s nothing prompting the brain to refine the signals and motor skills.

my son has autism (in aba and has a rotation of 4 therapists who come to the home,) and i’ve been told to not do this. the grooves guide them & discourage when they can’t do it without. and having nothing to show for the accomplishment after 30 minutes (can’t show dad or family etc) is extremely frustrating for them

I use to use those when I was in elementary school because my dyslexia and adhd held back from learning I have out grown quite a bit a bit of it but that helped me stop righting my numbers and letters backwards 🥰
