I love this! I had a non verbal student who communicated with an AAC. However they did have some emerging vocals/approximations. We were working on self advocacy and cessation requests. They despised the “baby shark” song so sometimes we would sing it quietly near them to promote them using their device to request us to “stop”. I was doing it one day and they just let out a little ‘gruff’ sound and said “Shut. Up.” The SLP looked at me and I looked at her like Lil Man did not stutter. She just smiled and gave a little nod. Is that what we were aiming for.. technically no but also yes. He communicated, he advocated and he did not try to bite me 😅. So proud of him.
