The guy made an entire OS by himself dealing with what he dealt with and still thought he was lazy. It’s legitimately choking me up, poor guy didn’t get to know how great he was, even if he wasn’t all there.

He was lazy, lazy in this society. That doesn’t mean anything is wrong with him. Tons of people with autism or schizophrenia just can’t live the way others do. Persistent panick, anxiety, estrangement by everyone, isolation, and constant stress and brain structure changes like your brain taking from the hippocampus(memory/learning) and compensating by increasing the size of the amygdala(fear response part of the brain). These structural changes are seen in people with schizophrenia (especially paranoid like him), anxiety(overlaps with schizophrenia, depression(same), ptsd, or chronic isolation. Often in healthy brains these are fully reversible if not related to a psychotic disorder.
