@cnbc: OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar said on Wednesday that "the AI era is upon us," and OpenAI is leading the pack. Asked to clarify #OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's comments about an #AI bubble, she said, as for any major era of tech innovation, that "there will probably be investments made that are not the best of investments." Those in positions similar to hers know the LLM hype is fading because people who understand the tech are aware that LLMs are proving less effective at doing the tasks businesses want than smaller, niche models. And the idea of the singularity or general intelligence being near is a myth. Now that investors are starting to demand returns on the money they pumped into these AI project over the past few years, these AI companies know the Bible is defo going to pop for some (maybe even many) of them.

Facebook is building an AI data center the literal size of Manhattan, for a product that generates effectively no revenue. definition of a bubble.

Remember five years ago when they said AI was going to disrupt the driver industry and all these truck drivers would be unemployed bc of driverless trucks….never hear a peep about that anymore.

The American economy is full of tech businesses built on promises right now…it’s kind of wild to see. People becoming literal billionaires on nothing else but what they envision their product will be.

A.I. is grossly overhyped, & may be the BIGGEST BUBBLE in tech history! It is nowhere near as big as the Internet or mobile eras. It may be eventually, but now it is NOT! The hype is so they can raise money & get investments. It will likely cause as many problems as it solves (the news will not all be positive).

When the bubble pops, it needs to be on the tech oligarchs and investors to shoulder the burden of loss, no bailouts!

Of course Sam Altman wants to destroy his competition’s market cap. OpenAI is is a private business, he has nothing to lose making that comment to hurt his competition 😂

Congress effectively killed half a million jobs in the renewable energy sector along with 380 new U.S. manufacturing facilities. We can't begin to supply the power that AI needs. New SMRs are 10-15 years out, fossil fuel plants are slow to come online, and both are only good for baseload. They can't respond instantaneously to the spiky demands and frequency disruption that AI causes. We need 10x the electricity as we did before AI, and the only thing that can be deployed quickly is renewables. The USA will lose the AI race and global dominance as a direct result of the Big Beautiful Bill, which actually hamstrings energy deployment. Regular rolling blackouts are coming. The AI race is equivalent to the nuclear arms race.

The OpenAI CFO doesn't think there's an AI bubble? Regardless of what it is or is not, are any of these people associated with AI companies reliable opinions? Does anyone else see the potential conflict of interest?
