I am a geologist working on the field of paleontology. Sof tissue is rare, but there are still many ocasions when we found it. Basically you just need a very fast burial of the animal. But still dna won't survive at least 66 million years.

We do have dinosaur DNA. Birds are Dinosaurs. And coding genes don't usually disapear. They merge, get switched off, or preempted by new genes overtime. So the other way to do this, is to figure out what changes happened in what order and reverse those steps. Because most of the raw information should be there to work with.

DNA has a half life of about 75 thousand years. Meaning in 150k years DNA is completely degraded. The closest dinosaurs were millions of years ago.

I don’t understand, Am I mistaken or are fossils not the literal bones or teeth of the animal but a cast of the bone? The bone decomposes and the area it once took up is filled with minerals.
