Funny story, during this bath salt era my daughter was in elementary school and she was in the DARE program. I came home from work to find her crying and was very disappointed in me. She had flushed a whole new box of Calgon (the granular kind) because it said Calgon bath salts. 🙄 I explained to her that wasn't the same thing and Mommy isn't on drugs. She's almost 30 now and it's still just as funny. 🤣

for the record: in the beginning, bath salts were relatively safe. they were widely used and predictable. they could still be troublesome but it wasn't that big a deal. then the government got involved and decided history has shown prohibition works every time (sarcasm). so they outlawed the substances. now, capitalism will always capitalize so the manufactures replaced a hydrogen molecule with a carbon molecule. now it was legal to sell again. only this time it was a brand new chemical with generally unknown properties and effects. so they banned the new formula. this happened again and again and again until the chemical was a Frankenstein of its original self. then you saw people acting like flesh eating zombies and injured wild animals.

Actually a medically induced coma was likely the best way to provide this patient with a full detox off EVERYTHING he was taking beforehand … honestly it should be considered and available for those struggling with addition (probably not OHIP covered BUT a viable option to allow people to truely recover from at least the physical side of addition)

Not a nurse but there was a case here (coastal NC) that a man on bathsalts ate one of his family members. Several others that passed away from using it too. It was a bad time. You could just buy that at the local tobacco shops. 😳😳

Have you heard of the dancing plague of 1518 ? In modern day France for TWO MONTHS people danced, constantly, until they literally dropped dead. People assumed it was mass hysteria or some type of bacteria (like what caused the witch trials in Salem).

The worst staff injuries o ever saw was because of bath salts. Splenic laceration leading to surgery, cardiac contusion, broken clavicle and nose. It was terrible. They finally made a special room that they went in that was basically a padded room. Thank goodness it didn’t last long.

I know what you mean about not knowing if it’s a spiritual thing. Seeing people in religious psychosis makes me wonder if they’re just seeing things we can’t and it sent them crazy, understandably!
