@mrs.frazzled: PragerU has MULTIPLE kids’ videos where the bulk of the video is just excusing enslavement/defending the founding fathers. It's freakin' weird. This is exactly what is meant by "whitewashing history." A nice, comfy explanation of the horrors our country was founded on.

This ain’t even true. The USA was among the LAST countries to abolish slavery. Haiti, Mexico, Canada, the other British colonies, Great Britain, France, Denmark, and most of South America abolished slavery before the 13th Ammendment was passed

I’m an American history teacher. Can confirm that America was one of the LAST major countries to outlaw slavery. Most European countries had by 1850.

So literally the US was one of the last countries to abolish slavery. The US didn’t abolish slavery until 1865 (when the 13th Amendment was put in) but ALL OF BRITAINS COLONIES (Canada, the isles, India, African colonies, etc) abolished slavery in 1833. The Dutch was 1863.
