@weddingprocass: Replying to @EMD🇵🇷 PRP I love everything about the Pittsburgh cookie table, including the fact that it involves people that love you making the sweet treats for the celebration! #weddinganswer #weddingplanningtip #weddingtiktok #weddingplanning #pittsburghcookietable
It goes much further back than the depression- it’s an old Italian tradition to have small cookies passed at weddings. Italian immigrants settled in Youngstown and Pittsburg for the iron and steel industries from 1900-1920. That’s how it settled in our area.

Seriously if I was at a wedding with a cookie table I would pass on the entree and pull my chair up to the cookie table.

Watching your videos has convinced me not to get married. Too expensive…wow. I’m from Pittsburgh and I know making the cookies cost a fortune. This is no longer a cost savings

I didn’t realize it wasn’t a thing outside of the Western PA area until I was an adult. Every wedding was in a church basement or firehall. They all had a cookie table. Best part of the reception. All the different types of cookies!! 💛🖤

My DIL had never heard of the cookie table so she didn’t want one. She was sorry ever since (my son teased her for years) he teased so hard that they decided to have one for their son’s Bar Mitzvah. It was an ENORMOUS hit.

For my daughter's wedding she asked for everyone to bring a dozen homemade cookies. It was awesome ☺️

My brother married a Pittsburgh girl and we found out this was a thing. It was so much fun and a way for family to be a part of the day by making cookies and then we all got to eat them and take boxes home. Very cool!

We did this at our wedding in Indiana. My husbands mothers family is from Pittsburgh. It was so amazing. A couple of the cookies were gone before the reception started because people knew to run for those!

I have a niece getting married in May 2026 and another in September 2027. We are already compiling a list of who is making what type of cookie for the weddings. Everyone has their specialty that they are eager to bake for the weddings. 💛❤️💚💜💙
