my first thought was the opposite, a young wizard finds a tower where he can study in peace, but turns out: it's occupied by a princess, who believes the wizard is there to save her

Side idea: the wizard is rhe princesses’s age and was locked in the (also wrong) tower because his wizard dad needed him to study and maybe he was grounded. Turns out this whole time the prince was trying to save the princess but the boobie traps (by the wizard trying to defend himself) were really good. Turns out they fall in love and maybe the prince gets stuck in the tower too and the princess has to save them both. Because she is the one who found the spell to escape the tower that he would have learned if he continued his studies
