Let's talk about student loans and picking the wrong degree I see people taking out $50K, $80K, even $100K+ in loans for degrees that don't lead to jobs that can pay those loans back. Fashion design? Cool passion, but most entry-level jobs pay $30-40K. Good luck paying back six figures on that salary. Psychology? You need a master's or PhD to make real money. That bachelor's degree alone won't cut it in most cases. Gender studies, art history, communications - I'm not saying these subjects don't matter, but let's be real about the job market. Before you sign those loan papers, ask yourself: • What's the average salary for this career? • How many jobs are actually available? • Will I need more school (and more debt) after this degree? • Can I realistically pay this back? The math has to make sense. If you're borrowing $80K to make $35K, you're setting yourself up for decades of struggle. Want to study something you love? Consider: • State schools over private • Community college for first two years • Trade schools for high-demand skills • Working while studying to minimize debt Your future self will thank you for thinking with your head AND your heart. What do you think - are people being realistic about college costs vs. career outcomes? Ready to make smarter financial decisions and build real wealth? I help people create solid financial foundations and turn their money into something that actually works for them.
