hai welcome to aquaria! :) fish do not just live in water. they require a bacteria cycle for survival. it’s called the nitrogen cycle and it is in best practice to start it a week(minimum preferable longer) before getting a fish. while you may have a dechlorinator and filter this doesn’t start your cycle. the item u need is a quick start/beneficial bacterial starter. in a perfect world you set it up a week prior to buying the fish at least, and feed the bacteria for a week- introducing it to ammonia slowly to grow it. after a week - a month to add the fish and it’s ready for the bio load a fish produces. if you didn’t do this you need to do something called an in fish nitrogen cycle which is more intensive bc u haven’t created the ecosystem before getting the fish and it’s gonna be fighting against the ammonia. good luck!
