When Canadians stopped traveling to the U.S. this year, Westjet increased the price on flights to Cancun. ONE WAY from Calgary to Cancun went from around $700 to $1900 overnight.

Definite gouging! I watched the prices go up days leading up to the strike and ended up having to book Westjet one way flight Monday to replace my cancelled Sunday air canada flight! $1600

As a travel agent I can tell you that WestJet artificially showed 1 seat remaining on all their flights. When one was purchased at the highest rate another one became available. By doing this they can trick their own pricing system, dynamic pricing, to keep inflating the price. WestJet and Porter, but not as badly, 100% price gouged.
