I think what this episode did really well was that Jax reduces people to their archetypes and dehumanizes them, but in the same episode EVERY archetype he called them was proven wrong and that they are more than "the sad one" or "the grumpy one". They're deeper than that, but Jax doesn't want to think that way because it means HE needs to look at himself deeper and he doesn't want to do that. He masks himself with these archetypes to protect his mental.
