I...hate it. I feel like it's the collection of spending hours looking at your own work, knowing you could be better but the reality staring at you. The constant nagging feeling of this could be better together with little to no outside validation is what kills you slowly but steadily.

The painting I did that I was most self conscious about in HS is the one my English teacher told me he loved the most after the art show. I gifted it to him when I graduated, expecting him to keep it in the classroom or something and he told me “I know the perfect spot in my living room to hang this” and it made me value my own work so much more 🥲
