New cars use 0w20 full synthetic and manufacturer suggested is 10,000mile or 12 months whichever comes first. Just got changed at oil change shop and they said see you in 3,000 miles uhh no sorry this ain’t 1995 see you in 6 months or more. They prey on peoples ignorance

proper service intervals for oil: Full Syn/hybrids- 5k-7.5k/6 months blend/diesels (diesels get dirty quick)- 3.5k-5k/6 months Brand New Vehicles (new vehicles tend sit for a month or 2 before being shipped to dealers where they will also sit for a bit and be sold) - 2.5k-5k tops no matter oil type tire rotations- should be completed with every other oil change
