I made crab Rangoon gingerbread men! I don’t know if I should call these cursed or cute.. I’ll let you all be the judge of it 🥹 This was the most fun I’ve had cooking in a long time. I started out by steaming Dungeness crabs in sprite. Then I picked out the meat and mixed it with melted salted butter. I love the taste of butter with crab and thought it would go well with the Rangoons. I then mixed in whipped cream cheese, garlic, sesame oil, and Calabrian chilies. I used a gingerbread man cookie cutter to cut into spring roll wrappers- I have found when doing stuff like this the spring roll wrapper will keep the shape better than eggroll wrappers, but that’s just my personal opinion. I added egg wash then piped in the crab Rangoon filling. Are there in a sealed the two pieces of spring roll wrappers together and I used more egg wash to add on the eyes, the mouth and the buttons. I first used sesame seeds has eyes, but then I felt a little bit more confident and used white pepper corns. As you can imagine, I was really nervous to Fridays, but at the same time I was really pleasantly surprised that everything held together even the eyes and mouth !!
