@hairbynay247: Whenever someone tells me their hair is heat damaged, the first place I check is the scalp. About 90% of the time, there are signs of sparseness at the root. The other 10% of the time, it’s simply that the flat iron was too hot for the overall texture. In cases like this, you either need to adjust the flat iron temperature to match the fragility of that section of hair, or avoid silk presses altogether. I’m not a full protective stylist, I’m more of the preparer for protective styles. Most of my big chops usually end with simple styles like braids to the back for a wig, two halo braids, or flat twists (depending on the length). So, if you’re booking a transformation service and your hair may end up this length or shorter, always have a backup plan with your local braider. The last thing I want is for you to walk away with your hair cut to a healthy state but not know what to do with it afterwards. 🫶🏽 #hairloss #curls

Betwam16 :
Also, some salons add relaxers to their shampoos and conditioners to make natural hair more manageable....without their client's knowledge.

Definitely doesn’t look like heat damage more like the line of demarcation where she’s growing out her natural hair!!
