Cardiology NP here - great content but PLEASE start statins for LDL over 100 not 190!! Atorvastatin and Rosuvastatin are preferred options. Alternatively, Zetia is a good starting point for individuals who are reluctant to start statins

If you have a patient on amiodorone for A-fib, get annual PFTs and CXR for pulmonary fibrosis.

In a diabetic patient, you should check their microalbumin every year to check for protein. That’s how you can tell when their kidneys are starting to fail early and their chances of possibly becoming Dialysis patients

For CKD and DM, you can also add Farxiga or Jardiance (SGLT2). For Kerendia, you have you recheck the potassium to check for hyperkalemia 1 month after starting!

Awesome!….statins are recommended regardless of lipids with diabetes…especially if other risks present…you don’t need to wait for the cholesterol to be bad😉

Optometrist here! Yes on plaquenil testing and another fun thing to look for in sleep apnea is what’s called floppy eyelid syndrome. The lids are very rubbery and flacid. You can barely pull on them and they will evert/flip. A lot of my sleep apnea patient struggle with dry eye from it :)
