oil, water, salt, and black pepper should be freebies that maybe in the future you could have curses remove access to. other specialty seasonings or sauces could fill into a flavor roll that's maybe similar to wild magic? maybe that's too much restriction?

It makes me think of Guy's Grocery Games where they have specific things at their station that doesn't count towards their number of items. So I think oil, salt, pepper, some kind of vinegar, sugar and water don't count as an item.

keeping the pineapple in chunk form probably added to the mishmash. maybe blending it into the chili for more of a sauce would’ve helped? anyway definitely keep salt always regardless of restrictions

yess i agree water, oil, and any kind of seasoning (spices, herbs, etc.) shouldn’t be restricted!! i’d consider extra ingredients as being whole items

Oil, water, basic dry seasonings, sugar, and flour should be baseline. Every kitchen has them and most recipes use them.

While a lot of these roll for shows are just good fun and therefore I enjoy seeing truly inedible combinations, this set up really lends itself to me wanting you to have the best possible chance of making these ingredients come together, bc its the creativity within the restrictions that make it so interesting! So I think if you ever did force yourself to not use the basics it should be either a special thing or maybe a curse, rather than a regular roll occurrence.

I think excluding basic cooking salt is fine but if you had a rosemary salt, etc, then no.

I think glazing the pineapple and bacon would've made the flavors more cohesive, with chili, pepper and something smokey, maybe literally liquid smoke, to make the dish have kind of like a barbecue taste
