@whimsicalserendipity: For me, school was something I loved. I remember the excitement of fresh notebooks, the smell of sharpened pencils, and the thrill of seeing friends again after summer. Now as a mom, I want my kids to feel that same excitement and joy when a new school year begins. The weekend before school starts (this is our second), we have a special breakfast. It is something fun and out of the ordinary, a little celebration to mark the start of a new chapter. As a mom, I know these years will fly by faster than I want them to. One day their first day of school won’t feel like such a big event, but right now it is everything. These little traditions are my way of slowing time, of holding on to the magic while they are still small enough to think it’s special.
