I am not Indonesian but I have friends / colleagues from there. On top of their salary, the DPR has monthly rice (?) allowance of around $734. While the teachers’ salary is around $30 like you’ve mentioned. Correct me if I’m wrong. I was sooooo flabbergasted when I found out.

Apparrently vice chairman of parliament make clarification as below. "The cost of cheapest boarding house is IDR 3mio/month, assuming the parliament work for 26 days, means they have to pay IDR 78mio (3mio/month x 26 days) cost for housing means the parliamen still on minus since they only get additional IDR 50mio/month."
