It’s the resting place of Ii Naosuke, a famous historical figure. 🐈‍⬛ Gotokuji is also known as the birthplace of the lucky cat, Maneki-neko. Legend says that Ii Naosuke took shelter at the temple after being beckoned by a cat—just before a sudden thunderstorm began. Grateful for the cat’s "invitation," he became a supporter of the temple.
