this was the very first shakespeare i read! i think it’s also quite interesting to see how katherine’s sister bianca had quite the opposite growth, and became more of a “shrew” as time goes by which is why i agree that this play is quite satirical. i personally believe shakespeare is attempting to show that what men search for in a wife is, well, a servant, or merely a must have object for their houses. for example quite a lot of suitors desire to marry bianca but not for who she is, more because she is well seen and would add reverence to their name. anyways i remember how much i loved to study this play, shakespeare’s works always have such depth
