I don't get the "I want 10k followers" response. When you get 10,001 followers your life doesn't change. And it suggests they have no strategy.

See I’m an inch wide mile deep kinda guy. I want to create a video journal for my children to enjoy (and me) when older. I started filming YouTube day outs, making them into shorts and nice memories, and then I realised I was filming so I might as well sell products I’d use anyway, and then use the cash made to take them out on better days out and bigger memories.

Interesting, but what about content creators who say they want to grow in their expression and see a confirmation in a growing audience. Isn't that a core of Tik Tok? Like dare to be yourself and engage with that

I had well over 100k followers on IG and it was exciting watching it grow but they weren’t the right followers. The right ones (who engage, or buy, whatever you’re trying for) are much better to have. I’ve deleted over 40k and I’m still deleting.

I think the issue with those folk is they can't see beyond that initial target. I also wonder if perhaps they're looking for the easy way through - like hoping a viral video will make them easy money. I still haven't reached that 10k followers, and I'm curious to see what it does alter, but my gosh I'm enjoying making things and honing my skills and interacting with people and reminding myself what I'm good at.

my problem with tiktok is that none of my videos are sent out to followers! i get a similar amount of views on instagram with 3,000 followers as i do on tiktok with 24k! it drives me mad - it's like i have to convince an entirely new audience i am worth their time every single video
