most usb type c chargers won't work with this as one would assume. it is a charger only too (no 5v output)

No! Do not use these on a project like this! They are very basic and cannot handle a battery that is being charged and discharged at the same time.

ESSENTIAL Make sure you change the resistor on the board to match the charging rate of battery you are charging.
