My parents or grandparents did not teach me about it. I learned about it quickly in high school and once I got into the work field. So if you don't teach them life will. Someone is going to make sure they project it onto them. My son is 10 and knows

My mother kept me sheltered from the history of slavery. I wasn’t allowed to watch Roots. She stated she didn’t want me to grow up militant because I would end up dead or in jail. It was about my survival for her.

I had to because we were around racism at some point or time. My parents didn’t because they didn’t want us to carry that burden

You should teach your children the truth. I taught my nephew bc he was a kid when Rrayvon Martin was murdered.

I did because I believe it arms them to survive the social jungle of the society we live in. However, I did not deliver the education in a mannner that makes it seems its the end all.

No, I didn', not when they were children. As they became in their late teens, I did show/tell them things, cause at that age they can understand. So I waited cause see you can tell them something and show them that thing in modern day (with the internet).

My mother told me about racism in the churches between denominations and people until she found one that was diverse. I grew up knowing no other race is better than mine and raced my kids the same way.

I told my children everything about the race relations in the 60s that traumatized my childhood and sadly, I have had many of these conversations with 7 with present day references!

yes definitely because at 6 l remember how I saw my dad cry trying to hold back the tears when someone we didn’t know called him the word and I new from that he couldn’t protect me from the world that he new l would have to endure and I remember how that made me feel so yes it was hard but I had to tell them the truth of what the world can be so much pain as well as beauty from what they can go through and what they will see in their lives so I had to be honest about the world we live in can be so cruel yet so beautiful so I feel you still

Yes because the foundation of this country, the Constitution isn't going anywhere. And all the racist law that were form because of it. For example, The Mann Act.

I taught it all! Gave them books and still give them books and now with YouTube we look at the scholars on YouTube. Yes. 385k Black women have been fired by Trump and anti DEI policies are restricting hiring of Black folks now. So it is all present now.

Bongi's Chicago :
Many black ppl in this country don't teach their kids about slavery and this country's history because they don't want burden their kids. But in not doing the kids grow up not knowing who the enemy is and become open prey to the predator. ANY animal in the animal kingdom teaches their young to watch out for natural predators.
