The British were amazing but did get rich off conquests which fueled that greatness. It's okay to accept the good with the bad of history. It doesn't reduce your greatness. But don't expect people you conquered to see you boasting of your spoils to join in the party especially when you let them into your country in droves without first buying into your greatness.
