You know the mother might actually get the help she requires if the boys were to actually set boundaries but it’s so much easier not to so we’ll continue to let our mother wallow in the mental health issues that she has then to force her to deal with them by cutting her off I think the entire family needs therapy

I can understand OP’s concerns here. If her fiancé can’t establish clear boundaries now then he never will even when they do have kids. If fiancés mom has a history of self harming then she’ll do that to get her way. OP does have a valid point here.

I think OP needs to not try to micromanage other people’s relationship just focus on her own relationship with her husband and her mother mother-in-law, and not with her husband’s relationship relationships with other people specially his own mother
