20 years in Marketing. Worked with many top brands as a freelancer and in-house manager. Spent the last 10 years developing startups in the video games and architecture, engineering, and construction industries. Was laid off in January after 7.5 years with the same company. Now I am 150 applications in with only 2 interviews and no call backs. My network extends around the world and at companies like Nvidia and Meta. I simply can't find a job atm. 😫

A bank in australia just announced that laying off 800 cust services staff replaced by ai bots last year wasn’t a good idea after all. Calls have increased because the bots can’t do what humans can.

35% of code.. untouched? Is it untouched code? Has it been spat out and works? Just like that? No review and adjustment by humans? Bullshit, they are selling a dream and CEOs are messing their pants for it.

AI cant handle complex contextual information that simply cannot interpret the world without a complete simulation computer to determine the building blocks of the universe to have the context it needs to match human intellect, but companies havent caught on yet so will lead to a big bubble thats ready to pop already, just five years down the line

I work for one of the mentioned companies. I have survived the layoffs so far. They aren’t switching to AI. They’re out sourcing or dumping the work on us who are still here.

Money was cheap during covid and they hired up a whole bunch of people. Now they're letting them go. AI isn't replacing anyone, it just makes productive people more productive so you need fewer people.

No the guy is right. AI will replace everyone because who wants to pay a salary? This is the inevitability with this technology. No amount of human + AI hogwash can replace the hard fact of number of human employment going down.

I actually think companies already know they made a big mistake with AI they just don’t know how to roll it back. Another thought is they are waiting for the right excuse to call people back.

Companies have no self awareness. No macro view. If people can’t work, they can’t spend which leads to no revenue.

Why are we blindly trusting what these companies are saying regarding lay offs? They can blame it on anything but still lie.

I would love to hear more about the pivot from FTE to contractors that they hire for 3-6 months, with no benefits. It’s incredibly exploitative

I work in a SOC that is using AI to handle alerts. Honestly it helps and frees up time from really mundane things. HOWEVER. AI really struggles with more complex alerts. It thinks everything is malicious when it clearly isn’t. AI will never be able to effectively communicate security issues or make impactful decisions. It’s decent at initial alert triage. It will never replace security engineering, threat intelligence, etc

as smone working at a small sftware company, I'd say a lot of the work is made only by a couple people. a lot of the teams likes to specialize in some particular task. maybe it's like that in bug companies too, and if u start automating everything you soon realize who's not essential anymore
