@abogadakate: We’re seeing reports that ICE plans to double detention capacity this year — from 50,000 beds to over 100,000. And here’s the truth: the vast majority of people in detention have no criminal history. Families. Children. People with a legal right to fight their cases in court. So who benefits? Not our communities. Not taxpayers. The winners are private prison corporations like CoreCivic and GEO Group — whose shareholders profit off human suffering. Add to that companies like Palantir (surveillance tech), WellPath and Corizon (detention “healthcare”), and contractors like MVM (transport). Together, they form a billion-dollar industry with powerful lobbyists pushing Congress for more money. Your taxpayer dollars are being funneled into this system — to detain families in inhumane conditions for profit. Even if you’re anti-immigrant, what could possibly make this make sense?
