@ramsey.solutions: The data shows that a 6-month engagement, on average, leads to a long-term marriage. That does not mean it has to be exactly 6 months. It could be 9 months, 4 months, or somewhere in between. I have friends who dated for just a few weeks and have been married for 40 years. There are always exceptions. But statistically speaking, a good, fully engaged, present-in-the-same-city engagement that lasts around 6 months has the highest probability of resulting in a successful marriage. #marriage #engagement #gettingmarried #datingadvice

6 months isn’t even enough time to plan a decent wedding 😂

We were engaged 6 months but it’s super unrealistic to find a venue and plan all of the details! It was a full time job and we had a private venue.

We dated 2 1/2 years and engaged 2 1/2 years. 30 years later still going strong. 6 months seems really short!

A 6 month engagement is a sham figure. It takes longer than that to book a venue, and it's considered a small notice period for guests. I bet they sign the intention to marry a year in advance and book a venue but don't count it until they hand over the ring.

About a 15 month engagement because venues were all booked a year out.

We dated for 2-3 years and engaged 6 months and had plenty of time to plan our entire elopement/honeymoon. It’s doable if you prioritize it being mainly about you and your partner 🤷🏽♀️

I dated my wife for 2 weeks and knew she was the one. We had a 3 month engagement and have been married for 25 years. When you meet the right one you will know. Why wait.

First marriage: dated 1.5 years, engaged 1 year, divorced after 1 year. Second marriage: dated 9 months, engaged for 3 months, married 12 years going strong.

What does the data say for who is more likely to get married at around the 6 month mark? That feels like an important piece here. Say religious people are more likely to get married at 6 months, well they may be more likely to stay together due to the religious aspect.

Facts. I was engaged to my wife 6 months. We tried to get divorced twice but decided we liked each other too much. Been married now 10 years

Most quality venues book out 1 - 1 1/2 years in advance. Most engagements these days are the same length.

I agree shorter engagements lead to better results if you've already been together long enough. but how do you logistically plan a wedding in 6 months? 6-18 months seems reasonable
