@whisper.photo.co: Every now and then I’ll have parents who want the baby in at 4-5 days old. Usually when I ask why they tell me they were told by other photographers they need to photograph the babies before 7 days old to get the newborn poses. Here’s why I WON’T photograph a baby before 7 days old. (Unless there’s a medical reason or it’s a hospital non posed session): 1. Babies are still learning their sleep and feeding cycles. Some moms haven’t even gotten their milk supply regulated. Why would we want to interrupt that? Babies are much more settled when they’re full. 2. Everyone’s healing. Why force yourself to get out of the house and take photos when you literally just had a baby. You’re still healing. Your BABY is still healing. Sometimes babies are still swollen, misshapen heads, jaundice etc. Let’s give them time to heal. 3. It’s not necessary. Your photos will be just as cute at my preferred 2-3 week age range. I however say my age range is 7-21 days for those who really want those sessions asap. But just remember we can discuss doing a newborn session even past that 21 day mark.
