@sophiemorrisofficial: People have been asking me for a clever swap for sausages for months and months and I’ve finally found one! Sausages are one of those foods many Irish households have in the fridge, but they’re also one of the most ultra-processed meats we eat. These sausages in Aldi contain 80% pork, which is actually not bad as some standard sausages can contain as little as 55% pork! Then they contain additives like dextrose, stabilisers, and the preservatives sulphites. The WHO classifies processed meats like sausages as a Group 1 carcinogen and the risk is dose related, meaning higher consumption leads to a greater risk of cancer. So if you are buying sausages regularly it is a good idea to try swap to a more minimally processed option - like these frozen pork breakfast patties in Aldi! They might not look like a sausage but here’s where we sometimes need to think outside the box! They’re 96% pork so a much higher % of pork and include just a few simple ingredients like herbs and spices — no sulphites, no stabilisers and no other additives. That’s the beauty of the freezer aisle: you can often find products like this as they don’t need preservatives the way fresh products might (my clever swap for burgers is another great example of this!) If you love the taste of a sausage, these should give you the same kind of taste but without all the additives! Saying that I haven’t tasted them myself yet so I’d love to hear from anyone who has?? Do they taste like a sausage? Let me know in the comments 👇❤️ #cleverswaps #sophiesswaps #ultraprocessedfoods

80% pork is fairly good. look at some of the well known brands, they only have 50 to 60% pork

It's cause it frozen they don't need as much chemicals to keep it 'looking fresh'. Frozen meats, fish and veg are generally a better option in the supermarkets

I don’t eat sausages often, but when I do I’ve also started looking at the sausage casing incident, some are very unpleasant.
