Kinda unrelelated. But it annoys me when someone makes a comic and calls it a “manga.” Manga specifically refers Japanese comic. If you’re in the west it’s called a comic. You can’t market something as a manga just to bandwagon on its success in the west.

The western scene (from what I see anyways, no one can play every game ever made) is far too irony poisoned. The JP ones from the likes of Professor Layton to Higurashi and yes, even the gooner games have this sense of earnestness to them. What you see with them is what you get, and they're gonna do what they can to intrigue, titilate, and entertain you rather than lecture you.

Lowkey i think the dating parody thing is blown way out of proportion. I used to think like that and then found out from the date everything dev interviews one of their major inspirations was tokimeki memorial 😭 i still dont really gaf about the game but it feels like a lot of vn fans r insecure about western dating vns when they really dont have to be

To anyone looking for new visual novels to play i would highly recommend using the Visual Novel Database as a resource. You can sort by a multitude of things including original language and available platforms. The include/exclude tag filter system is also very robust and contains a tiered spoiler system (including marking “lies” that are plot twists) and average play times.

While I’m not usually for western vns, why are people shading date everything in the comments? While yes it is a vn targeted to non vn players and it’s 100% okay to dislike the artstyle, it’s not a parody/ ironic dating sim like class of 09. It’s not perfect at all but the developers know what people who play the game want
