The taxi thing is so true…I got got this past weekend. I know I was being charged about $5-8 dollars more for taxi vs Uber but my battery died so uber wasn’t an option. I made the terrible mistake of paying with cc and was charged $200 DOLLARS vs PESOS😭 I’ve already reached out to my cc company

When I go to Mexico my cousins tell me not to talk that they will do the talking. I’m also told not to speak in English or else they’ll charge me more. When I’m in Mexico City I’m told to keep my phone tight and remove jewelry. I love Mexico especially the city and I don’t mind following these suggestions cuz I wanna eat and tour.

there's also a good app for taxis so they don't overcharge you it's like uber or Didi. you set in a price and taxis will respond to it and it will give you the average price from that distance to your destination for taxis I should pay for so you don't get ripped off. it's called Indrive. lived in Mexico for years before I found out about this one I just avoided taxis.

I had someone at a gas station ask if they could keep the change ? I was 😵💫 this is a thing ?? And yes I feel some vendors will try to overcharge if they see you are American
