Can we discuss the sheer pain those springs can cause to the finger tip if one lets loose? Done it countless times on bathroom fan covers, especially the Panasonic ones.

Only recommendation is to cut out that little black capacitor. Just snip snip and wire nut. Then that flicker won’t happen.

the commercial electrical trims come with spring clips and ones with teeth to attach to cans with no clip ears

My only gripe with these new retro fit LEDs is there isn’t any recess to them. So the glare is very strong.

I've always just used 2 self tappers next to each other to act as a spring clip. Didn't know those retrofit clips existed though, pretty slick

Yeah but it also lowers the light source, and when you’ve got low ceilings, the flat fixture with no reflectors or lenses….glare city
