@lolathespooniesahm: Gaslighting doesn’t always look like shouting or cruelty. Sometimes it’s subtle dismissals like, “It’s just stress” or “You’re too young for that.” But for those of us living with chronic illness, those words can be life-altering. We need compassion. We need validation. We need to be heard. 💜 #SpoonieLife #MedicalGaslighting #ChronicPainWarrior #InvisibleDisability #ChronicIllnessCommunity

This! We shouldn’t have to be afraid to get help when we need it most.

This is so accurate. I’m currently taking a break from trying to get pain medicine for my joint pain because most doctors don’t believe that I’m in that much pain most of the time.

A doctor yelled at me once when I advocated for testing… I got him fired, my records pulled from MyChart (he lied in them)… and not sure what the medical board decided….

As a chronically ill nurse, I 1000% agree with this. I have called out many other medical professionals for treating chronically ill patients poorly. Our society treats ill and disabled people horribly.

It's so real. I had a bad experience the last time I was in the emergency department and now I fear ever going back

Should’ve been with me in the oncologists office today for two hours to leave with nothing other than “we don’t know if it’s cancer, but we have to wait for the PET scan” after me sitting there for over an hour and a half asking her questions about my bone marrow results that she never explained or answered.. to then her finally taking a look at my blood work that I was trying to show her for that whole hour but she kept dismissing it.. tell her my blood work is abnormal for five years and try to show it to her and she won’t even take a look.. then she finally does and there’s a slight shift into her demeanor.. but still my doctor won’t even come in and explain everything going on.. then the audacity to give me her research from a fancy google for doctors instead of giving me straight answers!! And the research has nothing to do with my case! Medications I’ve never been on that she says affects T-Cells! I had to tell her three times and my mom too telling her I’ve never been on them. Then a random long ass search she did that makes absolutely no sense to me.. but here’s a bunch of research she did to tell me something the doctor is supposed to explain to me!!!!! I’m so frustrated. Kinda want to just come on TikTok and ask everyone about it cause I’m struggling.. I’m also scared and have no where to turn to. I could have cancer and my mom is emotionless and emotionally unavailable my entire life.. she dismissed me too “oh you don’t have cancer” she’s not a doctor either so I don’t know why she would even say that when it’s what they are checking for! If it’s cancer, it could be cancer all the two hours I was with the NP. Sorry for the long reply I’m just scared and feel alone and needed to vent.

Part 6/7 I Let My Sister-In-Law Use My Pool Every Summer For Her Kids' Parties. When I Asked TO Borrow Her Tent For Camping, She Sneered: 'Get Your Own Damn Stuff— You're Pathetic.' My Mother-In-Law Laughed: 'Beggars Can't Be Choosers.' My Husband Added: 'Stop Being Such A Mooch.' I Returned From My Trip To Find My Pool Drained And Damaged. Her Note Said: 'Pool Parties Are Over—Maybe This Will Teach You Not TO Be such A Worthless Leech.' I Simply Said Nothing, But What I Did Next Left Both Their Faces Pale... . . .
