As a storage employee, please keep the door at least halfway open for your safety incase of an emergency. Where i work, we have rights to end the lease if the door is fully closed while youre inside. Nothing wrong working in the unit but the workers might think youre living in there.

As a storage manager, I think your going about it wrong with the way people are telling you rules. Technically it’s true you cannot live or work out of a storage unit, that’s technically illegal and not safe. It’s a storage facility not a warehouse or living space Lease would be immediately terminated if you renting with certain companies especially my company and then we have the rights to ban you from all properties at that moment.
