There are 2 types of barnacles: 1. Regular barnacles: They just stick to the crab’s shell like hitchhikers. Harmless, and they fall off when the crab molts. 2. Parasitic barnacle (Sacculina): It invades the crab’s body, rewires its hormones, and makes the crab raise the parasite’s eggs instead of its own , basically turning it into a zombie.
