@beyondframes_: The Rise & Fall of Kodak - The World's First Digital Camera - How They Went from $31 Billion to $O In 1888, George Eastman had a vision: make photography simple for everyone. With Kodak's iconic slogan, "You press the button, we do the rest," the company became unstoppable-owning 90% of the U.S. film market by the 1990s and generating billions in revenue. That yellow Kodak box was everywhere. But here's the twist: in 1975, a Kodak engineer created the first digital camera. Instead of embracing the future, Kodak buried it, afraid it would destroy their film empire. Meanwhile, Canon, Sony, and Nikon embraced digital photography and left Kodak behind. By the 2000s, digital cameras dominated. Kodak tried to catch up-but by 2012, the giant filed for bankruptcy. From $31 billion to zero, Kodak's fall remains one of the biggest business lessons in history. #Kodak #BusinessFailure #Innovation #HistoryOfPhotography #DigitalCamera

the organization/group failed to adapt from a successful current technology to a new unforseen technology that would make thier current technology obsolete.
As complex as current technology is ,it's more understandable why the could not have seen thier own decline.
The power of the established and familiar is great compared to the unknown new that few can see or even need to.
And for those that do need a new better way ,they'll probably be forced to change by circumstances beyond their personal control.🤔

At one point in time they had the DCS Pro 14n and it was the top of the game but they didn't hold, that was unfortunate. Yes Kodak killed itself through myopic management. They still make film and it is still the best.

I bought a Kodak digital camera in 2004. It was 5 megapixels. I still have it and it took pretty good pictures
