Personally, I believe that Jax was probably nicer and some point, not like completely nice, but not as cruel as he is now, I believe what could’ve changed that was Ribbit abstracting, and as Jax said, people before abstracting aren’t pleasant to be around, so I’d imagine Ribbit gradually changed becoming more distant and hostile which affected Jax, and then their abstraction could’ve been the thing that made him become more cruel, to avoid opening up, and being pushed away again only to watch another person he was close to to abstract. This could’ve been why he pushed Pomni away, because while things started out fine between him and Ribbit, it might’ve gradually changed from them getting closer to abstracting, so not only was he probably scared of opening up, but loosing another person by trusting again.

I know Jax cyincism made ribbit extract. I know Jax and ribbit fought and he insulted them and abandoned them after being really mean, and ribbit locked themselves away in thier room only for jax to go and get to apologize to find ribbit abstracted and it was too late.
